The company was established in 1956 by Mr. Philippe Abdessamad.
It became the Syrian leader company to sell all kinds of optical lenses, optical frames and sunglasses and it represented many Italian and French manufactures in Syria.
In 1998, the company launched its first RX laboratory in Aleppo for both mineral and organic optical lenses. It gave a strong push for the distribution of lenses and completed their range to cover bifocals, progressive and other kinds of special lenses. Many international firms’ products (BBGR® Selective™ and Group Essilor® - Varilux™) are available in our stock.
Abdessamad CO. signed an agreement with Luxottica Group® in 2000 to become the exclusive official distributor of the world leading house Luxottica Group® in Syria.
In the same year 2000 Abdessamad Co. launched its second RX lab in Damascus.
The RX laboratories were upgraded with a complete set of the latest technology multi-coating machines, giving the possibility to make different treatments for mineral and organic lenses with any index rate (e.g. Antireflection, Hard Coating, Hydrophobic and Mirror color treatments).
In October 2007, another agreemnt was signed between Johnson & Johnson® Vision Care™ and Abdessamad CO. to become the official distributor for all Johnson & Johnson contact lenses brands in Syria.
